IT MAKES NO SENSE TO DELETE EXISTING INDUSTRY SEPARATION DISTANCES
MAKE SENSE OF THIS
In 2010, after 12 months of extensive community consultation, the state government introduced industry zones with defined separation distances between low impact, medium impact, high impact and hazardous (renamed Special) industry, and nearby homes. This was what everyone wanted, yet only 5 years later the government has now flagged they intend to totally delete ALL separation distances.
WHY?
Please take a minute and read the reasons given by Minister Kate Jones in 2010 as to why industry separation distances are vital for the well being of the community having to exist near industry plants.
Now the government wants to overturn this in its new Planning Bill and allow industry to locate right next to residents without restrictions. For what reason? So that "outcomes" can be maximised!
YRA asks you to imagine WHO will gain the greatest benefit or outcome from this change in the law? Certainly it will not be the residents.
The Answer is?
LAWYERS
